This guide describes the current Digital IDE 0.5 source tree: HDL editing, project dependencies, simulation, netlists, waveforms and FPGA toolchains. Check the installed version when comparing a release package with the development extension.
- Install the extension and backend.
- Open and configure a project.
- Toolchain path configuration.
- Use language services.
- Simulate and inspect designs.
- Build hardware, then processor software.
Embedded videos show interface operations only, without subtitles or narration. Instructions and prerequisites are in the surrounding text. Recordings use tests/project/temp; its part number, top level and pin constraints are specific to that board.
On Remote SSH, install and configure the backend and vendor tools on the remote host. Platform support depends on the backend and each tool, not just VS Code.
Report issues at GitHub, including extension/VS Code/tool versions, platform, reproduction steps and the first relevant error. Include a minimal HDL example for language issues and the selected top level for build failures.
